Want to save some money?
We also want to make our Senior Players aware of two initiative that could save them some money this season. We are once again offering the Bring a Friend Initiative which rewards our members for bringing out new players to our club. You can find more details here
Our long time sponsor Hill County Property Services is also offering the Hill County Rugby Excellence Award which will reimburse a Senior Men's player his dues for 2016. You can find more details here
SAXONS CONTINUE TO EXPAND!
For 2016 we plan to add Under 14 rugby to our club. We will need to continue to recruit players as U14 rugby is played as 15 a side. Our first U14 team may be a co-ed team but, ideally, if we have the numbers we would like to add teams for both u14 girls and u14 boys.
Last year we also organized some Women's Flag Rugby practices and a Women's Flag game. The response was overwhelming positive and there are plans to continue in 2016. If you are interested in getting out for a run, whether you have rugby experience or not, please contact Mel Crosby for more information. This is non contact rugby for adult women.
Saxons Secure Ontario Trillium Grant
In 2013 Mike Killoran and Don Maillet submitted an Ontario Trillium Application for the Cobourg Saxons. The application outlined the need to purchase new equipment to successfully launch the second phase of our minor rugby program. The application also requested funding to help purchase a scrum machine and rucking pads, equipment that would help our junior and senior teams remain competitive in the Toronto Rugby Union. The equipment, except for the scrum machine, has been in use since the second half of the 2014 season. The scrum machine is in storage and will be in use when we beginning using our new pitch at Westwood Park. The saxons would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Mike Killoran and Don Maillet.
